Mohammad Deif

Khan Younis, Palestine | Unknown - Unknown

In light of the occupation's behavior and its disregard for international laws and resolutions, and in light of American and Western support and international silence, we have decided to put an end to all of this so that the enemy understands that the time has come to be held accountable. We announce the start of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, and by the grace and power of God, we announce that the first strike of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, which targeted the enemy's sites, airports, and military fortifications during the first twenty minutes, has surpassed five thousand rockets and shells.

Mohammad Deif, born in the Gaza Strip in Khan Younis, is a prominent figure in the Palestinian resistance movement. He is one of the founding members and the current principal leader of the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas. He is widely known by his nom de guerre, "Deif," meaning "guest" in Arabic, a name reflecting his elusive nature from staying in different homes to evade Israeli assassination attempts. There have been eight such attempts so far. His ability to survive these attempts has turned him into a symbol of resistance for many Palestinians. Deif's involvement in the Palestinian resistance began in the late 1980s during the First Intifada. He quickly rose through the ranks due to his strategic acumen and commitment to the cause. His leadership was instrumental in organizing and executing numerous operations against Israeli targets, making him a highly sought-after target for Israeli forces. Prior to the Second Intifada, Deif was imprisoned by the Palestinian Authority but managed to escape custody. This escape allowed him to continue his military activities, further solidifying his role within Hamas. His expertise in guerrilla warfare and bomb-making has been crucial in the operations of the al-Qassam Brigades. In 2014, during Operation Protective Edge, an Israeli airstrike targeted Deif's house, resulting in the death of his wife and their infant son, Ali. This tragic event underscored the personal sacrifices Deif has made and further fueled his commitment to the resistance movement. Despite his injuries and the loss of his family, Deif remains a crucial figure in the Palestinian resistance. His strategic mind and unwavering dedication continue to pose significant challenges to imperialist forces, particularly that of the zionist movement. His life story is one of resilience and steadfastness, embodying the ongoing struggle of the Palestinian people. Mohammad Deif's legacy is marked by his survival against the odds and his relentless pursuit of what he sees as Palestine's liberation. His leadership of the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades continues to influence the Palestine liberation struggle.
